My Freeport

First, the background behind my move to Freeport, Texas.
My research started; first with the retirement process, how much would I make each
month and how do I go about making it happen. Then, where would I move?
You all know how much I love the internet (duh -- look where you're at). Right off the
bat I discarded the northern Pacific coast as too rocky and too cold. The idea of the
gulf coast seemed doable; it's warm, affordable for the most part, and it is BEACH!
The gulf coast it would be. My internet adventure started in Florida - mostly too
expensive; on to Alabama - ditto; Mississippi - affordable, however human rights would
be an issue; Louisiana, again affordable but upon further examination political corruption
would be an issue with me (I know it's in every State but Louisiana is very blatant);
Texas - affordable, no State tax, a little higher property tax, close to New Orleans,
friendly people -- why not.
For my vacation that August in conjuction with my trip to Memphis I made plans to rent
a car, and visit the 6 towns that piqued my interest. There was a house in Burkville
right on the lake that I was really interested in and had my house sold for what I'd
wanted it to sell for that's probably where I'd be now, and I'd probably not be that
happy because I wouldn't have been on the beach (see things happen for a reason).
Freeport just did something to me when I visited it. The people were so friendly and
helpful, the town has about 10,000 people spread out and is only about 4 miles from the
next closest town of 10,000 and within 10 miles of an even larger town with all the
amenities. I'd only be minutes from the beach and I could buy a house in my price
range. Wonderful! Freeport is where I was going to be heading.
From this page you will find (or eventually find) buttons on the left side of the page that
will take you to all things "Freeport or Texas". Now that you know how I got here you
might enjoy seeing what I see, sort of.
